I don’t drink coffee myself, but everyone I’ve taken to Butcher’s Coffee has always been impressed with the great coffee they serve. What’s more, they source it from their own roastery, Andy’s Roastery. Butcher’s Coffee is just around the corner from where I live, so it’s one of my favourite places for lunch with clients and friends.

Levi’s is one of my favourite go-to shops for denim. The brand is known around the world for the quality denim it makes, and I’ve never been unhappy with any of the purchases I’ve made from them. The price/quality ratio is perfect, much like their fits. I'm also a loyal fan, because they always come up with bold, creative campaigns during Pride Month, that convey a positive message.

Have A Roll is the shop of one of my good friends, the creative entrepreneur Dennis Van Peel. So it’s safe to say you can find me there a lot. Have A Roll makes the most delicious cinnamon rolls, which also happen to be vegan. He changes some of the flavours each month, so you can always discover new combos at Have A Roll. A tip: if you don’t know what to bring the friend you’re visiting, just pick up a box of Have A Roll and you will make their day!

The Cos boutique in Huidevettersstraat is definitely worth a visit, whether you intend to shop for some new clothes or simply want to be surrounded by an inspiring interior. The brand has opened a new shop in a majestic, neoclassical building, with furniture by Belgian designers Muller Van Severen, among others. The staircase that leads to the men’s department is impressive. It also happens to be the largest free-standing staircase in the Low Countries. When I'm at Cos, I always walk out full of inspiration, with some new, minimalist and qualitative items.

Sidestep
Swedish brand Weekday now occupies the premises of former cult shop Fish & Chips. In my opinion, this is the place to go when you’re looking for basics, without wanting to spend too much. The stuff at Weekday is modern, but minimalistic - and completely in tune with the Scandinavian style. I also think the price/quality ratio is quite good. There’s another Weekday branch in the magnificent Stadsfeestzaal in Meir.

I like to go to Middle Eats, because the flavours immediately take me back to Tel Aviv, one of my favourite holiday destinations. It feels like a bit of Tel Aviv in Antwerp. The concept at Middle Eats is food sharing, just perfect if you want to taste a bit of everything and share with friends.

Can you have too many sneakers? Nope. Sidestep is the place to go for a good mix of basic sneakers and more special editions. It’s also a personal fave because I was involved in the launch. Enfnts Terribles was asked to give the brand a new lease of life. We partnered with six young local creatives. They chose Antwerp for their first shop in Belgium precisely because it has a reputation of being a fashion destination. And I couldn’t agree more!

One place that should definitely be on your shopping list is the boutique of Dries Van Noten. The famous member of the Antwerp Six snapped up the neo-Baroque Modepaleis, a listed monument, in the 1980s and transformed it into his own fashion palace. The men’s collection of my namesake always includes beautiful, timeless piece that are more than worth the investment. I recently bought a coat here, which I will enjoy for many years to come. I like to visit the shop because of the amazing installations in the windows each season.

Men who love vintage fashion should head to Vrijdagmarkt 6, where you can score preloved items by international and Belgium fashion legends including Rick Owens, Martin Margiela, Dries Van Noten, and Raf Simons. Often at a fraction of the original price too. A tip: follow this shop on Instagram because they always post the latest additions and sizes to their feed. Which is great, because finding the right size in vintage can be a struggle!
